Mukou no Hate(2021)

In 1985 Tokyo, novelist Kohei Kimizuka is killed in an apartment fire. His childhood friend Ritusko Ikematsu is arrested for the crime. Prosecutor Tsutaguchi investigates by interviewing those who knew her, uncovering a troubled past shaped by the men around her. Each witness offers a conflicting portrait of Ritusko. As Tsutaguchi digs deeper, he discovers a case from 1955 in Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture—where both Ritusko and Kohei grew up—that may hold the key to understanding the murder.
