Welcome to Paradox(1998)

Welcome to Paradox is a science fiction anthology series that aired on the Sci Fi Channel in 1998. Set in the fictional future city of Betaville, each episode adapts classic short stories by renowned science fiction authors, exploring how advanced technology impacts the human body and mind. The series examines humanity's struggle against hostile machines and systems, drawing thematic inspiration from Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville. A host introduces and closes each episode in the style of The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, framing the narrative with prologue and epilogue segments. The show ran for a single season from August to November 1998 before cancellation. Despite being produced in Canada, Welcome to Paradox premiered in the United States first, then aired on Showcase in Canada. The series never achieved syndication success and remains a cult curiosity from the network's early original programming era.
