The Legend(2007)

The Legend is a Korean drama set in the mythical kingdom of Goguryeo, following Hwanwoong, the 19th king, who descends from the heavens with a divine mission to better the world. When he falls in love with Saeoh and gives her a sacred joojak necklace, jealous Kajin sabotages their happiness by stealing their newborn son and hurling him from a cliff. Grief-stricken and believing her child dead, Saeoh transforms into the destructive black joojak, threatening to annihilate the world. Only Hwanwoong can stop her. After returning to the heavens, he prophesies that two thousand years later, the true Joo Shin king will emerge on Earth, destined to rebuild the kingdom with aid from four divine gods. The series blends mythology, romance, and epic fantasy as it explores fate, redemption, and the cyclical nature of destiny across centuries.
