El Manantial(2001)

El Manantial is a Mexican telenovela that aired in 2001, centered on a bitter feud between the Valdes and Ramirez families in the village of San Andres. The conflict stems from a past affair between Justo Ramirez and Francisca Rivero, wife of his rival Rigoberto Valdes. Their children, Alfonsina and Alejandro, grow up on opposite sides of the divide, yet feel an undeniable attraction. After Justo assaults Alfonsina, she flees with her mother. Five years later, Alfonsina returns to San Andres seeking revenge, only to discover Alejandro is now engaged to his cousin Barbara. As their forbidden love resurfaces, the two must navigate family hatred and personal tragedy to find happiness together. Starring Adela Noriega and Mauricio Islas, the series won the TVyNovelas Award for Best Telenovela in 2002.
