Goodness Gracious Me is a British sketch comedy series that aired on BBC Radio 4 from 1996 to 1998 before moving to BBC Two television from 1998 to 2001. The ensemble cast—Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kulvinder Ghir, Meera Syal, and Nina Wadia—were all British Indian actors who explored the collision between traditional Indian culture and modern British life through sharp, inventive sketches. The show flipped perspectives, sometimes reversing roles to view the British through an Indian lens, while other sketches punctured Indian stereotypes with wit and humor. One iconic sketch featured the cast "going out for an English" after drinks, mispronouncing names and ordering the blandest dishes—a clever parody of drunk Britons ordering chicken phall at Indian restaurants. The show's bhangra-infused theme tune sampled a 1960s comedy song of the same name. Goodness Gracious Me became a cultural touchstone, with one sketch later voted the 6th Greatest Comedy Sketch by Channel 4.
