Hem till byn is a Swedish drama series that follows the lives of people in a rural village as they navigate romance, conflict, and the pressures of agricultural change. Written by Bengt Bratt, the show premiered in 1971 and became Sweden's longest-running series, airing eight seasons across three decades with significant gaps between runs, including a 14-year hiatus from 1976 to 1990. The 2006 season marked what is likely the final chapter. A distinctive feature of the series is its use of the same cast throughout its entire run, allowing characters to age naturally alongside their actors. When cast members passed away during production, their characters' deaths were written into the following season. Jackie Söderman directed the first seven seasons, with Gun Jönsson—who also starred in the series—helming the eighth and final season.
