The Front Line(1984)

The Front Line is a BBC sitcom following two half-brothers of West Indian descent sharing a house in 1980s Britain. Malcolm works as a policeman while his brother Sheldon embraces Rastafarian culture, setting up a clash of values and lifestyles that drives the comedy. Created by Alex Shearer and filmed across Bristol and Cardiff, the series aired from December 1984 to January 1985, building on an earlier 1970s pilot called On the Frontline. The show's infectious theme tune, written and performed by reggae band Black Roots, plays over opening credits featuring the musicians themselves. This short-lived sitcom captured the tensions and humor of multicultural Britain during a pivotal decade.
