France / Tour / Detour / Two / Children(1979)
France / Tour / Detour / Two / Children is an experimental twelve-part television project by Godard and Miéville that explores contemporary French life through the eyes of two children. Taking its title from the 19th-century educational text Le tour de la France par deux enfants, the series functions as both a meditation on television itself and a portrait of ordinary existence in modern France. Rather than following a conventional narrative, the work detours through the everyday moments and encounters that shape childhood in the present day. The project reflects Godard's characteristic approach to form and meaning, questioning how cinema and television represent reality while remaining grounded in the lived experience of its young subjects.
