Shillingbury Tales(1981)

Shillingbury Tales is a British sitcom that aired on ITV from 1980 to 1981. The series follows the quirky residents of a fictional English village through a feature-length pilot and six one-hour episodes. An ensemble cast including Robin Nedwell, Diane Keen, Jack Douglas, John Le Mesurier, Bernard Cribbins and Trevor Howard brings warmth and humour to everyday village life. Written by Francis Essex and directed by Val Guest, the show was shot entirely on location in Aldbury, Hertfordshire on 16mm film—an unusual choice for the era that allowed the series to forgo a laugh track. The production ended when ATV lost its broadcasting licence, and the incoming Central Television chose not to continue the series.
