Washimo(2014)

Washimo is a Japanese animated series about a girl named Hiyori whose grandmother passes away. Grieving and inconsolable, Hiyori's father builds her a humanoid robot designed to look like her grandmother, complete with dentures and all. The robot moves at an oddly inconsistent pace—slower than a snail yet somehow faster than a rhinoceros beetle, and inexplicably capable of outrunning a bullet train. The series blends comedy with the tender relationship between a child and her mechanical replacement for lost family, exploring how technology and love intersect in unexpected ways.
