Spirits of the Mekong River is a paranormal drama series that follows Dr Akkanee, a skeptical researcher who travels to a remote, superstition-steeped village to debunk supernatural claims. There he encounters Buapun, a woman who haunts his dreams even before their meeting. As Dr Akkanee investigates the villagers' beliefs about spirits dwelling in the nearby Mekong River, he discovers the legends are real. A vengeful princess's spirit lurks beneath the water, waiting for her destined betrothal—and she has been calling to Dr Akkanee across lifetimes. Caught between rational inquiry and ancient fate, he must navigate his growing feelings for Buapun while confronting a supernatural force that refuses to be explained away.
