Obscene Money(2023)

Obscene Money is a German comedy series following a provincial economics lecturer whose attempt to bridge theory and practice spirals into chaos. When his son gets caught stealing at school, the desperate father turns to local criminals for help, only to find himself saddled with ownership of the town's first sex shop. Now he must sell outlandish products with names like "Aladdin's Cave" and "Banana Bully" to keep his son out of juvenile detention and his wife from working as a hostess at a men's club. Set against the backdrop of post-Cold War Germany, the series mines dark humor from the collision between academic respectability and criminal enterprise, as the protagonist discovers that survival sometimes demands the most unlikely compromises.
