Russian Doll is a Cold War espionage series set in 1983 Leningrad. Yulia Morozova, a university student studying foreign languages, is recruited by the KGB after counterintelligence agents notice her striking resemblance to the deceased wife of American spy Jim Wheeler. When Wheeler arrives in the city to meet with an agent at a secret research institute, the KGB devises an elaborate scheme: they'll insert Yulia into his circle, betting he'll be drawn to her familiar face. As counterintelligence officer Volokhov orchestrates a complex game to expose a mole in the Soviet defense establishment, Yulia finds herself caught between her new handlers and a dangerous intelligence operation that could unravel at any moment.
