American Dreams is a drama following Meili, a young woman trapped in poverty who risks everything to reach America after glimpsing a better life through her neighbour's letters. She falls prey to human trafficker Jiang, who sells her into prostitution in Thailand. After a harrowing escape, Meili finds refuge with Chang, a fellow undocumented immigrant working at a restaurant. Together they navigate the dangerous underworld of illegal immigration, hunted by both the triad determined to recapture her and authorities ready to deport her. The series explores the brutal reality behind dreams of a better life, following two vulnerable people struggling to survive on the margins while evading those who would exploit or expel them.
