The Adventures of Long John Silver is a 1954 family adventure series following the legendary pirate captain as he commands his own ship and crew across the Caribbean. Long John Silver and his buccaneers navigate treacherous waters, often siding with the English against French and Spanish rivals. Between daring raids and narrow escapes, the crew finds refuge in Miss Purity's tavern. Shot in colour in Australia for international audiences, the series premiered in the United States on syndication in 1956, with selected episodes later recut and released theatrically as "Under the Black Flag" and "South Sea Pirates." The show reached British audiences via ITV in 1957 and aired on Australian television in 1958 as part of the ABC's Children's TV Club, marking an early adventure series for young viewers.
