Toshiie and Matsu is the 41st NHK Taiga Drama, a historical epic set during Japan's turbulent Warring States period. The series follows Maeda Toshiie, an ambitious samurai whose rise to power brings him into contact with three of history's greatest generals: Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu. Through political cunning and the unwavering support of his devoted wife Matsu, Toshiie climbs to become the second most powerful figure in the shogunate, eventually establishing a vast fiefdom spanning Echizen, Noto, and Kaga.
