Kidnapped(1979)

Kidnapped is a British serial adaptation starring David McCallum as the fugitive Alan Breck Stewart. When young David Balfour inherits his uncle's Scottish estate, the man attempts to murder him and has him shipped away to be sold into colonial slavery. Balfour's fortune changes when he befriends Alan Breck Stewart, a wanted man fleeing the aftermath of Bonnie Prince Charlie's defeat at Culloden. After a ship's captain threatens their lives for money, the two escape to land and journey toward Edinburgh, evading pursuing Redcoats at every turn. This ambitious HTV and Tele-Munchen co-production features an ensemble of distinguished British character actors and captures the danger and adventure of 18th-century Scotland, where survival depends on cunning and loyalty.
