Scoop(1972)

Scoop is a British television series following William Boot, a mild-mannered nature columnist for a national newspaper who is mistaken for a celebrated foreign correspondent. Thrust into an unexpected assignment, Boot is dispatched to the fictional country of Ishmaelia to cover an active war. The mix-up sets the stage for a comedy of errors as the unassuming journalist finds himself in over his head, navigating dangerous territory and international intrigue far removed from his usual contributions about wildlife and the natural world. Based on Evelyn Waugh's satirical novel, the series offers sharp commentary on journalism, ambition, and the absurdities of wartime reporting. The production is believed to be lost.
