Kudenow oder An fremden Wassern weinen(1981)
Kudenow oder An fremden Wassern weinen is a German drama set in the aftermath of World War II. Kurt Marenke, a farm boy, is separated from his family while fleeing East Prussia in the final months of the war. Two years later, he finds his mother and sister Ella in the small village of Kudenow in Schleswig-Holstein, but their father is dead and their brother Bruno remains missing in Russia. The family is reduced to living in a chicken coop on the property of large-scale farmer Fiete Kock, sharing cramped barn space with other refugees. The series follows the Marenkes as they struggle to rebuild their lives amid the devastation and displacement of postwar Germany, exploring themes of loss, survival, and the human cost of conflict.
