Night Heat is a Canadian police drama that aired from 1985 to 1989 on CTV and CBS. The series follows journalist Tom Kirkwood as he documents the nightly investigations of detectives Kevin O'Brien and Frank Giambone working the crime-ridden streets of an unnamed northeastern North American city. Created by Sonny Grosso, a former NYPD detective, the show draws on authentic police work to fuel its gritty procedural narrative. Grosso and partner Larry Jacobson served as executive producers, bringing real-world law enforcement experience to the writing and production. Night Heat captures the tension and complexity of urban detective work through the eyes of both the police and the journalist reporting their cases.
