Lead Balloon(2006)

Lead Balloon is a British comedy series created by and starring Jack Dee as Rick Spleen, a cynical comedian whose days are consumed by petty frustrations, social mishaps and everyday humiliations. Dee co-wrote the show with Pete Sinclair, crafting a darkly comic portrait of a man perpetually at odds with the world around him. The ensemble cast includes Raquel Cassidy, Sean Power and Tony Gardner. Debuting on BBC Four in 2006, the series earned the channel's highest comedy ratings and quickly expanded to BBC Two, reaching millions more viewers. Four series ran between 2006 and 2011, with critics drawing comparisons to the American hit Curb Your Enthusiasm. Audiences particularly warmed to Magda, the sharp-tongued Eastern European housekeeper. The show's theme is a Paul Weller cover of Noel Gallagher's "One Way Road.
