A Typical Month(1976)
A Typical Month is a Soviet drama following Grekov, chief engineer at an instrument-making plant struggling with supply failures and production chaos. When quality suffers and shortcuts become routine, Grekov turns to the Institute of Production Management Problems for solutions. They propose an untested automated control system—a risky gamble that Grekov accepts despite unanimous opposition from his colleagues, who believe the timing couldn't be worse. The film captures the tension between innovation and caution as Grekov fights to modernize operations while his team fears the experiment will push the plant toward collapse. Set against the backdrop of industrial Soviet life, A Typical Month explores the personal cost of pursuing progress in an unstable system.
