Buffy the Animated Series(2008)

Buffy the Animated Series is an unmade animated spinoff of Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Greenlit by 20th Century Fox in 2002, the series never found a network buyer and remained unproduced. It would have been set between episodes of Buffy's first season, functioning as a standalone story within the show's continuity. Writer Jeph Loeb positioned it as "Episode 7.5," bridging the gap between established canon. Though the animated series never aired, Whedon and Loeb later explored its visual style in the Season Eight comic story "After These Messages... We'll Be Right Back!" The project represents a fascinating lost chapter in the Buffy universe, showcasing what might have been had television networks embraced the concept.
