Airwaves(1986)

Airwaves is a Canadian dramedy that aired on CBC from 1986 to 1987. The Toronto-based series follows Jean Lipton, a widowed radio talk show host balancing single motherhood with her career in broadcasting. Jean lives with her teenage daughter Zoe and her father Bob, navigating the pressures of on-air work and family life. Roberta Maxwell stars as Jean, drawing inspiration from Canadian journalist and activist June Callwood for the role. Ingrid Veninger plays Zoe, with Roland Hewgill as Bob. The ensemble cast includes Taborah Johnson, Alec Willows, and Kimble Hall. The series was written by Judith Thompson, John Frizzell, Susan Martin, Rob Forsythe, and Paul Gross. Airwaves later aired on Vision TV from 1989 to 1991, introducing the show to a wider audience.
