Warrior Baek Dong-soo is a 2011 South Korean historical action series that follows the rise of Baek Dong-soo from skilled swordsman to folk hero during the Joseon dynasty. Set against factional power struggles involving King Jeongjo, a Qing ambassador, a Japanese swordsman named Kenzo, and a shadowy assassin's guild, the narrative weaves political intrigue with intimate character drama. Baek would later become one of three authors of Muyedobotongji, a landmark martial arts treatise commissioned by the king. At its heart, the series explores themes of brotherhood, friendship, loyalty and honor as Baek navigates a dangerous world of competing interests and moral choices.
