The program debuted on Sat.1 in December 1995, establishing itself as a fixture of German television for nearly a decade before its initial cancellation in 2003. Schmidt subsequently moved the show to Das Erste, later collaborating with fellow entertainer Pocher on a joint venture. He returned to Sat.1 in September 2011, though the network eventually discontinued the program. The show found new life on Sky Deutschland starting in September 2012, where it continued to air.
