Square One Television(1987)
Square One Television is an American children's series created by the Children's Television Workshop to teach mathematics and abstract mathematical concepts to young viewers. Broadcast on PBS from January 1987 to November 1992, the show tackled the math crisis affecting American schoolchildren through engaging, accessible lessons. After its initial run ended, reruns continued until 1994. The series was revived for the 1995–1996 PBS season as Square One TV Math Talk, a program designed for teacher instruction. The show later appeared in syndication on Noggin beginning in 1999, though it was removed from the cable channel's lineup in 2003 along with other Sesame Workshop productions. Square One remains a landmark example of educational television designed to make mathematics entertaining and comprehensible for elementary-age audiences.
