War and Destiny(2007)

War and Destiny is a Chinese historical drama set in 1930s Nanjing during the Republic of China era. When Imperial Japanese forces threaten to overtake the city, the prestigious Ku family—parents in declining health and their daughters—are forced to abandon their wealthy home. A servant urges them toward the countryside, where they discover a harsh new reality of rural poverty and hardship. Each daughter faces her own struggles as the family adjusts to their diminished circumstances. Yet through shared adversity and labor in the rural landscape, the fractured household gradually finds strength in unity, drawing closer together as they rebuild their lives far from the war-torn city.
