The Van Gogh Legacy traces the turbulent life of Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh, a misfit who grew up under his stern Calvinist pastor father and struggled to find his place in the world. While his brother Theo built a career as an art dealer in Paris, Vincent pursued painting obsessively, attempted missionary work among Belgian miners, and repeatedly failed at conventional life. When he reunites with Theo in Paris, Vincent remains an outsider to society, spiraling toward personal crisis and illness. The series interweaves his story with that of a Dutch railway engineer descendant who grapples with a pivotal decision: whether to sell the family's invaluable painting collection to finance a revolutionary railroad project.
