The City is an American soap opera that aired on ABC from 1995 to 1997. The series follows survivors of a serial killer who escape their Pennsylvania hometown of Corinth for a fresh start in a SoHo apartment building in New York City. As they rebuild their lives in the bustling metropolis, old wounds resurface and new romantic entanglements complicate their attempts at moving forward. A spinoff of the long-running soap Loving, The City was created by Agnes Nixon alongside head writers Barbara Esensten and James Harmon Brown. The show earned two Daytime Emmy Awards in 1996, cementing its place in the soap opera landscape of the mid-1990s.
