Hypernauts(1996)
Hypernauts is a 1996 science fiction series that served as a proof of concept for computer-generated imagery techniques pioneered on Babylon 5. Created by Ron Thornton and Douglas Netter, the show follows a team of young heroes navigating futuristic adventures through cutting-edge visual effects. ABC aired six episodes on Saturday mornings before declining to renew the series, leaving seven produced episodes unbroadcast. Executive story editor Christy Marx, who previously worked on Babylon 5 and Captain Power, wrote four episodes alongside writer Katherine Lawrence. Though short-lived, Hypernauts demonstrated how the groundbreaking CGI developed for Babylon 5 could extend beyond that flagship series into new storytelling venues.
