Garden of the Wind(2008)

Garden of the Wind follows Dr. Sadami Shiratori, a surgeon at a prestigious Tokyo hospital who confronts death daily in the operating room. When he reconnects with his estranged father, Teizo—a country doctor practicing on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island—Sadami discovers a radically different approach to medicine. Teizo has devoted his career to palliative care, visiting terminally ill patients in their homes and guiding both them and their families through life's final journey. As Sadami grapples with the limits of curative medicine and the weight of his surgical practice, he begins to question what healing truly means. The series explores the collision between urban medical ambition and rural compassion, examining how two generations of doctors find meaning in their work and confront mortality with dignity.
