Cain's Father(2016)

Cain's Father is a Spanish drama series set in the Basque Country during the 1980s, when ETA violence and separatist tensions grip the region. Eloy, a young civil guard from Madrid, volunteers at the Intxaurrondo base in San Sebastián, only to find himself in a deeply hostile environment where his fellow officers battle psychological collapse as fiercely as they face external threats. Alcoholism, depression, and suicide plague the barracks—a condition locals call the "Northern Syndrome," which proves as deadly as any bomb. The series explores how institutional trauma and political violence corrode the minds and spirits of those caught between duty and survival, painting a bleak portrait of Spain's troubled past.
