Ekaterina is a historical drama series set in 1745 Russia, following the political machinations of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna. Desperate to secure a capable heir, Elizabeth arranges a marriage between her mentally unstable nephew Peter III and a foreign princess, hoping to produce a son she can groom as emperor. Among the candidates arriving in St. Petersburg is the ambitious young Prussian noblewoman Sofia Frederica, who will later become Catherine the Great. The series explores the intricate court politics, personal ambitions, and power struggles that define the era, as Sofia navigates the treacherous world of imperial succession and transforms from a foreign bride into a formidable political force.
