Space Command is a Canadian children's science fiction series that aired on CBC Television in 1953 and 1954, marking the network's first original dramatic program. The show follows life aboard the fictional spacecraft XSW1, operated by an international Space Command organization dedicated to exploring and colonizing space. Each episode centers on commander Frank Anderson as he navigates diverse scientific challenges—from sunspots and asteroids to space medicine and meteors. Though it ran for just over a year, Space Command became a hit for CBC's early years, broadcasting weekly from March 1953 to May 1954. Today, only a single episode from November 1953 survives in the archive, making it a rare piece of Canadian television history.
