Suburbia(2012)

Suburbia follows Conceição, a young woman who escapes the coal mines of Minas Gerais by stowing away on a cargo train to Rio de Janeiro. She finds refuge with a welcoming family in the city's suburbs and falls in love with Cleiton, a rebellious working-class man caught between right and wrong. As Conceição rises to become a Brazilian funk star, she struggles to preserve her moral compass amid the violence and inequality surrounding her. The series explores how ordinary people navigate impossible choices—balancing personal ambition with integrity when survival itself demands compromise. Set against Rio's gritty urban landscape, Suburbia examines whether it's possible to maintain your values when the world around you constantly tests them.
