Beautiful People(2008)

Beautiful People is a British comedy drama series based on the memoirs of Barneys creative director Simon Doonan. Set in Reading, Berkshire in 1997, the show follows thirteen-year-old Simon and his best friend Kylie as they dream of escaping their mundane suburban lives for cosmopolitan London and a chance to live amongst the beautiful people. Episodes work as self-contained stories while building toward a loose overarching narrative. The series premiered on BBC Two in October 2008 to strong critical reception and 1.5 million overnight viewers. Two series aired before concluding in December 2009, capturing the wit and yearning of adolescence through Doonan's nostalgic lens.
