The New Loretta Young Show(1962)

The New Loretta Young Show is an American television series that aired for twenty-six episodes on CBS from September 1962 to March 1963. Loretta Young stars as Christine Massey, a freelance writer and widowed mother of seven children living in suburban Connecticut. The series blends drama and situation comedy, marking the only time Young played a recurring character on television rather than serving as host. Young was the first performer to win both Academy and Emmy Awards and pioneered the transition from Hollywood films to television. Despite airing after the popular Andy Griffith Show, the series struggled against stiff competition from ABC's medical drama Ben Casey and NBC's David Brinkley's Journal in its Monday 10 p.m. time slot. Sponsored by Lever Brothers and produced by Young's own LYL Production Company, the show was cancelled after one season.
