An Invisible Cradle(2018)

An Invisible Cradle is a Japanese series following 17-year-old Aoi as she begins a summer apprenticeship at Yui Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic in 1997. Her first day brings a shock when she witnesses an abortion procedure, but she soon finds mentorship in the clinic's compassionate staff: Yui, the meticulous director; Sayako, an experienced nurse; and Sakaki, the gentle head nurse. Though Aoi's mother worries about her daughter's clumsiness and social awkwardness, the teenager's genuine kindness resonates with patients. As Aoi supports women through surgery and recovery, she confronts profound questions about life itself. Surrounded by newborns and the weight of difficult choices, she gradually matures, discovering her own capacity for empathy and purpose in the clinic's quiet, sacred work.
