Two Homelands follows Kenji Amo, a second-generation Japanese-American reporter working in Los Angeles's Little Tokyo. Born in America but educated in Japan, Kenji straddles two worlds. His life grows complicated when his UCLA classmate Charlie develops feelings for Nagiko, a colleague at the newspaper where Kenji also works. Kenji harbors his own conflicted emotions about the situation. When Nagiko's friend Emi proposes marriage, Kenji accepts—but the outbreak of the Pacific War upends everything. As conflict engulfs the nation, Kenji's circumstances shift dramatically, testing his loyalties and forcing him to navigate the impossible position of being caught between two homelands during wartime.
