The story of workers from village(2005)

The Story of Workers from Village follows migrant laborers converging on a construction site in Songjiang City, a small northeastern town. Hundreds of workers from across the country, living in crowded shacks, have poured their sweat into building the Champs Elysees apartment complex—a dream investment for the city's residents. But their wages go unpaid. Foreman Xie Laoda and site manager Zhang Jian offer only excuses and empty promises. Many workers depend on this money to send children to school or pay for elderly relatives' medical care. When peaceful requests fail, the desperate laborers attempt collective action, only to face threats and intimidation. As their situation grows dire, the workers must find a way to reclaim what they've earned and protect their families' futures.
