Abu Janti (King of taxi/ King of lancer)(2010)

Abu Janti is a Syrian comedy series following a Damascus taxi driver who calls himself the "King of the Lancer." His cab becomes a stage for human drama—a confessional, comedy club and social mirror rolled into one. Each episode introduces a new passenger with a story that Abu Janti inevitably becomes entangled in. Written by and starring Samer El Masri, the show grew from a popular sketch and uses the taxi as a window into everyday Damascus life. Sharp, funny and occasionally poignant, Abu Janti blends black comedy with genuine insight into the people and rhythms of the Syrian capital.
