Amazon(1999)

Amazon is a drama series created by Peter Benchley that aired in syndication from 1999 to 2000. The show follows six survivors of a plane crash in the Brazilian Amazon jungle as they navigate a hostile landscape and encounter multiple indigenous tribes. After initial contact with a Native American group, the survivors are taken in by the mysterious Chosen, descendants of 16th-century British colonists. Tensions escalate when the group flees into territory controlled by a tribe of cannibals led by a ruthless American woman intent on dominating the region. The first season ended on a cliffhanger, but no second season was produced. Despite its brief run of 22 episodes, Amazon retained enough interest to warrant a DVD release in 2011. A novelization of the pilot was also published by Harper.
