December 20th(1982)

December 20th is a historical drama set in Russia during December 1917, in the turbulent aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution. As Lenin consolidates communist power, he appoints Felix Dzerzhinsky as Commissar for Internal Affairs and head of the Cheka, the secret police organization tasked with eliminating counter-revolutionary threats. The series follows Dzerzhinsky's rise and the brutal machinery of state security that would eventually evolve into the GPU and KGB. Against a backdrop of political upheaval and ideological fervor, the drama explores the personal cost of building a totalitarian state and the moral compromises demanded by revolutionary ambition.
