Detective(1964)

Detective is a BBC anthology series that adapted classic detective stories across three seasons between 1964 and 1969. The 45-episode run showcased varied mysteries and crime narratives, each episode a self-contained investigation. Like many British television productions from that era, much of Detective has been lost to time. Only twelve of the first season's eighteen episodes survive, six episodes from the second season have vanished, and just one episode from the final ten remains in the BBC archives. Despite these gaps, the surviving episodes offer a window into 1960s British television's approach to detective fiction, capturing the period's distinctive style and storytelling conventions.
