Money(2010)
Money is a two-part television adaptation of Martin Amis's cult 1980s novel, starring Nick Frost as John Self, a dissolute film director whose trip to America to make his debut feature spirals into self-destruction. Self arrives in New York with ambitions and connections, but his hedonistic lifestyle, gambling addiction, and moral compromises quickly unravel his chances at success. The series captures the excess and moral decay of the era through Self's increasingly desperate attempts to secure funding and complete his film while his personal life crumbles around him. Frost brings dark comedy to the role as Self careens through a world of shallow producers, manipulative lovers, and his own worst impulses. Money explores themes of ambition, corruption, and the American dream's hollow core with sharp wit and unflinching satire.
