Sky High(2003)

Sky High is a Japanese supernatural drama series starring Yumiko Shaku as Izuko, a guardian of the gate to the afterlife. Airing from 2003 to 2004, the show follows Izuko as she uses her powers to guide restless spirits toward the afterlife by helping them understand the circumstances of their deaths. Unlike similar Western shows where such interventions typically end well, Sky High takes a darker approach—Izuko's efforts don't always lead to peaceful resolutions. Based on the manga of the same name, the series proved popular enough to inspire a concurrent feature film, blending supernatural mystery with emotional complexity as Izuko navigates the murky space between the living and the dead.
