The Love Bug is a 1968 family comedy about a struggling race car driver who discovers an unlikely champion in a Volkswagen Beetle with a personality all its own. Jim Douglas is broke and desperate for a win when he acquires Herbie, a small VW that seems determined to help him succeed—whether he wants the car's interference or not. As Douglas begins to trust his mechanical partner and their chemistry on the track improves, a cunning rival spots an opportunity and sets out to steal the Bug. What starts as a quirky partnership becomes a genuine friendship, and Douglas must protect Herbie from those who'd exploit the car's remarkable abilities.
