The Country I Come From(1956)

The Country I Come From is a French comedy about mistaken identity and second chances. On Christmas Eve, the carefree Eric arrives in a small provincial town and discovers Julien, a shy bar pianist who is his exact double. When Eric learns that Julien is hopelessly in love with Marinette, a waitress, but lacks the courage to pursue her, he hatches a plan: he'll impersonate Julien to help his doppelgänger win her heart. Complications mount when Eric's wealthy uncle dispatches his men to drag him back home for the family Christmas celebration. As Eric meddles in Julien's love life, the two men's worlds collide in increasingly absurd ways, forcing both to confront what they really want from life.
