Daddy(1989)

Daddy is an Indian drama about a young woman named Pooja who has grown up believing her father is dead, raised instead by her grandfather Kantaprasad. When mysterious phone calls from a stranger saying "I love you" are traced to Anand, her estranged father, Kantaprasad violently warns him away. Years of separation have left Anand a broken, alcoholic man living on the margins. When he unexpectedly saves Pooja from assault in her apartment building, she discovers the truth about her father's identity. Now Pooja must decide whether to accept this flawed man into her life or honor her grandfather's wishes and keep him at a distance. The film explores themes of family, redemption, and unconditional love.
